Good Vibes for a Girl Called "Rah"

This is an 11" x 14" watercolor original painting for a lovely lady recently diagnosed with cervical cancer and her beau, Wade.

The painting has been given to the couple for hopes of cheering her up and hopefully her brother's will have a Silent Auction to raise more monies for her and her care. They do have a GoFundMe page at GoFundMe

I will donate ten (10) original Amy S. Petrik watercolor illustrations for Rah's possible Silent Auction, should her family decide to have one locally in Sioux Falls, SD, USA.

On a side note, May 23, 2024, I purchased a 2021 Ford Escape Titanium from Mr. Wade at AutoLand Autos in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after I had my first car accident since receiving my learner's permit at the age of 14. My former Escape was totalled.

These were my drawings from the last calendar I created back in 2021. Covid hit and my sales tanked. I am happy to announce that I have created three months so far for 2025's calendar.

Meet Miss Etta

This is Miss Etta.
Amazing human walking amongst us. Saw her walking to and from "somewhere," daily in front of the building I work at on Phillips in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She has a super groovy vibe about her and when you see someone like that, I really want to meet them. The other day, I spent my lunch hour at my favorite store in Sioux Falls: Zandbroz Variety. Literally walked into the store and there she was in all her glory. I am almost positive, I freaked her out by gushing. But she agreed to letting me draw/paint her liking. And... she loved my creation.

Here is an awesome Human Kindness Tip: You see someone with a certain groove about them, men or women or a doggo or a fascinating kid... Tell them. People do not compliment others at all. Ever. Life is so short and so many people wander around about life... and it's easy and simple to pay a sincere compliment to any one/thing breathing on Planet Earth.

Genuine Humans Exist

Another human I have had contact with within the past 365 days.... And no, his eyeballs are not really crossed. I tell my brain to draw normal and this is the end result of what my right hand decided upon. Also an 8 inch by 10 inch original hand drawn with a Sharpie and a mixture of colored pencils, markers, and watercolor paints on watercolor paper. And i am the artist who performed this magic on March 21, 2024.

Bookmarkers Were Once a Thing I Did

Once upon a time when I lived in Yankton, South Dakota....
I created a lot of bookmakers for children...
Never made a profit.
They took forever to hand-draw and hand-paint each one.
The darling little humans loved them... as I also laminated each one, and added a nice ribbon... each one was fine-tuned just for that child.
Also, I discontinued these rather quickly.
A lot of work and no one wanted to pay the labor of tackling each one individuality.
Everyone wanted "discounts."

Hard to work for yourself, wanting to spread cheer far and wide, when parents complain about the price of a talent you were blessed with.

LIVE A GREAT STORY

Pretty simple.
Life is far too short to live with regrets.
Reach out to your friends, coworkers, yourself...
Make sure everyone is in a good safe place.
With life. With their work. With their inner demons.
EVERY ONE MATTERS.

Her mom said she is the
Traveling Volleyball Team's "Cheerleader" along
with being a great volley player.

Nearly Ruined my Spirit

This was a commissioned piece that I hand drew, hand painted for a local person in Bon Homme County for her to use as her 2023 Xmas cards. I actually did two drawings. Only painted this one. Time accumulated for both pieces: over 8 hours. Never got a reply back from her. I found out from my mom getting a piece of Xmas mail herself from a recipient from this "client," who received my imagination.

This Client made a mockery out of my mad skillz. My heart shattered into a million broken crayons.

Just recently, I started using my imagination again after this happened -- 6mos after the fact. But a piece of me is and will always be deeply sad.

Updated Studio

My ADHD gave me the GREEN LIGHT GO to finally put together my new & improved art "studio" area. I added thrift finds to add appeal and function to said artistic space to make my magic. Before tonight, piles of markers and watercolor paper sat untouched, unloved since mid-summer. It wasn't a priority until this evening at 8PM CST.

Nekked Art

Before any watercolor paint is added on, most of my Sharpie drawings are just plain drawings with just a thought of what I should splash on. I try to not overthink the paint choices.... and from start to finish as in wrapping them up in proper packaging and being shipped off to their new homes... it's a couple of hours later. Custom orders from clients take much longer, as those are very detailed. My biggest joy, however, comes from grabbing a marker and just drawing what my mind tells my hand to do.
